DZERZHINSKY DISTRICT

Dzerzhinsky District of Yaroslavl was founded in 1979. Its territory is 43 square kilometres. On 01.01.2003 the population of the district was 169.8 thousand people. The district consists of 14 micro districts, 4 of which are still under construction. Being the youngest in Yaroslavl, the district has always been the main construction site in the city.

Dzerzhinsky District borders on Leninsky, Zavolzhsky Districts of Yaroslavl, and on the Yaroslavl Country District.

ZAVOLZHSKY DISTRICT

Zavolzhsky District was founded in 1938. Its territory is 64.1 square kilometres, which is about one third of the total territory of Yaroslavl. The district stretches along the Volga for more than 25 km.

The population of the district is 113.5 thousand people.

The district could be divided into 6 main parts:

  • The micro district of "Rezinotekhnika" plant,
  • Shevelukha,
  • Tveritsy,
  • Krasnoborskiye micro districts,
  • Sredny (Middle) and Nizhny (Lower) settlements,
  • The settlement of Plant No.50.

KIROVSKY DISTRICT

Kirovsky District of Yaroslavl was founded in 1936. The territory of the district is 14.07 square kilometres, on which 64.0 thousand people live.

Being the central one, Kirovsky District has most of the business, scientific, cultural, sports, industrial and financial centres. The Yaroslavl Regional Administration, the City Council, the State Duma of the Yaroslavl Region and other authorities and offices that co-ordinate all the vital activities around the city and the region are situated here.

The district in itself is a large museum complex, the main attraction of which is the Saviour-Transfiguration Monastery. Being situated in the centre of the city, Kirovsky District has many cultural objects, like theatres, concert and exhibition halls, libraries, clubs etc.

KRASNOPEREKOPSKY DISTRICT

Krasnoperekopsky District was founded on March 15, 1936. The territory of the district is 37.61 square kilometres; its population is 65.1 thousand people. There are more than 1,000 industrial enterprises, construction and transport companies, and 465 servicing companies in the district.

The district is situated in the southwestern part of Yaroslavl.

LENINSKY DISTRICT

Leninsky District of Yaroslavl was founded in 1936. The territory of the district is 10.15 square kilometres, with the population of 70.5 thousand people. The district is situated in the central part of the city.

The borderline of the district is the following streets: Polushkina Rosha, October Avenue, Avtozavodskaya Street, Uglichskaya Street, Lenin Avenue, Sverdlov Street, Pobeda Street, Respublikanskaya Street.

FRUNZENSKY DISTRICT

The district was founded in February 1975. Its territory is 36.44 square kilometres, its population is 124,0 thousand people. The territory of the district could be divided into ten main zones. The district stretches from the northwest to the southeast along the right hand bank of the Volga for 12 kilometres.

Frunzensky District is situated in the southern part of the city at the crossing of the roads leading directly to Moscow, St.Petersburg, the Urals and the Volga region, to the main industrial areas, centres of raw materials and fuel centres of the country.

Frunzensky District is a river port on the Volga, connecting the basins of the Kama, the Neva, the Don and the Caspian Sea.

The district borders on Krasnoperekopsky, Zavolzhsky, Kirovsky and Yaroslavsky Country Districts.
